Rough times day 8

It's hard to come up with things you like about yourself when your world comes crashing down.

Last Tuesday, my 13 year old daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy. While this isn't the end of the world, it was hard for all of us.

A week later, I try to pick myself up.

1. I am strong when I feel weakest.
2. I find humor in things that shouldn't seem funny to others.
3. I care very deeply, to a fault.
4. I want to fix all that goes wrong.
5. I am not perfect and I'm good with that.
6. I enjoying just sitting, enjoying company.
7. If I can make things easier I will, but I won't take your ability to stand out.
8. I'll have your back if you need me.
9. I hate confrontation but I'll go that mile in the fight for you.
10. I will hold your hand and let you lean as hard as you need to.

Long rainy days

It seems like it has rained for days here. I call it monsoon season. It washes out our soccer practices and games and gives me more time at home which is much needed. I have been behind on everything!

I have managed to make some food in bulk. I made about four meals of meatballs, a chicken casserole, and four pints of sauce. I have plans for black beans and rice and meatloaf too.

If you have been following my blog, I have been doing proverbs 31. The first exercise is to name 10 things about yourself that you love everyday. By the end of the month you'll have 300 things. I don't know about you but that's really difficult for me. I don't concentrate on myself. I know that's a typical mom thing to say but it's really true here. I have short hair, I don't wear any makeup, and I wears uniform to work. My afternoons are spent running my kids to practices. I have only a couple of friends. It's hard to come up with something, not to mention 10 somethings.

But I keep going. I come up with things. They seem insignificant at first but all these things make up my design. And that's the process.

Quilting!

Quilting can be a labor of love. To take tiny pieces of fabric and sew them together into interesting patterns and create this huge artistic masterpiece can be a huge undertaking. And then to hand quilt it. HAND QUILT. Yes, that's my decision.

It has taken me two months to make this top. I have decided to hand quilt this. It might take a year or longer but I want to do it.

Taking the time to do it by hand will allow myself time for me. To reflect on my day, my kids, my life. To listen to music, catch up on shows, sit with my husband as he plays call of duty 112 or whatever it is lol. It's deliberate time for me.

I think it's smart to have a hobby. Your mind needs to get lost in something you love. It's healthy for your soul.

Snow day!!

What do you do on a snow day? Well, if you live in the south, as I do, you take the day off. I know, most people think that's ludicrous but that's how we roll. Or stay put, as the case may be.

I think this is the biggest snow I have seen without previous snow for it to lay on. Depending on where you measure, it was between 6-8 inches. Schools are closed, and my job actually shut down thirds and delayed days by four hours! But I stayed out the whole day.

Here are some pictures of the fun!

This is my teenager about to get creamed by her daddy!

Headed up the hill...

The buried tricycle...

After we came inside, we did make snow cream. The kids loved it! I began to work on my little project this snow day.

This has been a labor of love, and it still needs its borders. It was a mystery quilt along sponsored by love bug studios.  I will post another picture once I get the top finished.

Hope everyone had a great day! It was a glorious family day for us in the middle of the week!

Thanks to Trisha

Do you ever watch food network out of boredom and get a little hungry? Ok maybe a lot hungry?

I was watching Trisha Yearwood cooking with Wendy Williams this morning and they made banana pudding. Yummy!

I haven't had banana pudding since I was working third shift and one of my coworkers made some and brought it to me. My darling husband hates bananas so I never make it. But now we have three children, all of whom love bananas.

After church, we head to the store and I buy everything needed. I even have my 13 year old daughter help me. We go through the recipe step by step.

I decided to make a merengue topping like Trisha did.

It looks awesome!
Well it's tasty! I'm soo happy!

My two youngest children did not like it.

More for me and the teen!

My first post

Hello! My name is Amy and I'm a crafter. I'm a little bit good at a lot of things so I tend to jump from one project to the next. I like to quilt, knit, sew, paint, etc.

I'm also the mom of three great kids. A teenager, a preteen, and a toddler. They go in three different directions all the time so I certainly have my hands full.

My husband and I both work full time. He is a teacher and soccer coach and I work in a factory where we make car parts. Busy busy!

We attend church on a regular basis and are active with programs there too. We love our church family!

So that's a little bit about us!
